The name, Al Gomes, has been significant in the music industry for over 30 years. With his company, aptly named Big Noise, he assists talented artists to get going in their careers. To this end, he organizes promotions, books studio time, chooses material, and creates branding and public imaging.
Since it was formed in 1990, Big Noise has received over 10 prestigious awards and it has released some 300 recordings by artists from every spectrum of music. Al is involved in the management of all projects, from start to finish. He even negotiates with record companies, packaging companies, and art directors, on behalf of new artists.
When he founded Big Noise, his primary intention was to help budding artists who were continually being overlooked or ignored by record companies. He knew just how hard it was to evoke interest from moguls in the industry. His long-time partner, A. Michelle, co-founded Big Noise and she works alongside Al.
He studied at Rhode Island College in the US and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. During his time at college, he was involved in the college radio station and its newspaper, The Anchor. Al was the editor of the entertainment and music section. While at the radio station, he put together an innovative syndication slot. In addition, he enjoyed directing and producing college plays.
Apart from launching the careers of numerous artists, Al has worked with other big names in the music industry. He initiated many pioneering productions, record compilations, and is a competent record producer. He was part of the group that catapulted Christina Aguilera to fame.
He continued working with her and took charge of marketing and entertainment for her company called Three Wishes Productions. During this time, he was Aguilera’s promoter, marketer, biographer, and archivist. Two of her best-sellers, Holiday with Christina and What a Valentine Wants, were produced by him.
Throughout his illustrious career, Al Gomes has collaborated with other famous artists. Among them are Little Anthony, Shelly Yakus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Matchbox 20. He has written music with Mike Viola, Sean Callery, and Jimmy Crane. The successful Band Wagon Benefit Project was his initiative, the aim of which was to raise money for poor communities. The main song, Three Sides of Hunger, and two live concerts netted thousands of dollars which were spent on clothing, food, and shelter, for destitute people.
