How to find the wedding entertainment that suits you

Only the best will do when it comes to your wedding day. The forward planning needed to make it as perfect as possible will come down to military precision, from the day itself, to how you dress, to the flowers and then to the honeymoon – there is a lot to organise! The entertainment you choose however will set the atmosphere for all of your guests and, if done correctly, will provide a seamless backdrop that enhances the entire event.

Helping you along a little, we’ve broken down the sections of your big day with a few suggestions and ideas to get the ball rolling.

The ceremony Depending on where you carry out your actual nuptials you may look to carry out a traditional musical accompaniment such light, uplifting piano or organ. These work well to politely inform your guests that the ceremony is about to start as well as creating that perfect atmosphere. If you are looking away from the traditional route, it may be nice to make a big deal out of your entrance with something like a full steel band announcing your arrival to the venue.

The register It may not be the moment where you would naturally think to have a musical accompaniment, however, the signing of the register can be a long process so having a background focus is a great way to keep people’s attention. You want to avoid anything intrusive so a soprano or tenor works excellently.

The speeches, reception and food There are many options to consider when it comes to the reception. Depending on your character it may suit you to incorporate a sophisticated jazz band, harpist, string quartet, cocktail jazz piano or even something a bit more upbeat such as a swing band. If you’d prefer to create a more chilled out atmosphere, allowing your guests to get to know one another a bit more, it might be nice to have a soft accompaniment such as a simple flute.

The party The final big party is where you get to completely take in your day, and where your entertainment can be stepped up a gear! Whether you go suave and sophisticated, a bit of rock and roll or take a Latin and salsa vibe, the party should have your stamp all over it. It’s advisable to a think about what you listen to at home, it may be that a tribute to your favourite band or singer, or a ’50s, ’60s, ’70s or ’80s theme reflect your leisure time in the best way. For a little bit of something different you could experiment with live karaoke. The choices are endless; it’s all about your taste and theme so make sure you make the most of your big moment!
