British singer Adele has rewritten record books as her second studio album 21 has topped the UK Music charts for the ninth consecutive week.
The album which get started on the number one spot has now remained at the top longer than any other album in the present century , while it has equalled the all-time record for any album sung by a female singer. Adele has matched Madonna’s set The Immaculate Collection, and now needs one more to surpass the record set by the American pop superstar over 20 years ago in 1990.
Last week , It was told on media that this album (21) is the most downloaded music by the fans and it has made a record that it is the fastest studio album to reach the 1000,000 mark in copies sold and this album made this record in only a short span of 3 months, it is from January to March 2011
But that’s not it. There is more reason to celebrate for the chubby English singer , whose single ‘Someone Like You’ also reached the top of the UK music charts, and enabled her to achieve a song and album double for the fifth week consecutively . Ant it’s not like that her debut album has stopped doing wonders. Adele’s first LP ’19′ still sits on a respectable second spot, which means that in three of the last five weeks, her sophomore and debut albums have occupied the one two spots on the UK charts.
In other chart news , The Stroke’s band new album Angles managed to become the highest new entry on the charts after it opened up just below Adele’s ’19′ on the third position. The combined effort of Ronan Keating and Burt Bacharach are also not far behind The Strokes, camping on the fourth place with their album When Ronan Met Burt at five.
There is also place on the Top 10 charts for former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, whose 2010 album Killer Love still is alive and kicking, occupying the eight spot. R&B singer Chris Brown also managed to register a place inside the Top 10 with the help of his recently released album F.A.M.E. His comeback effort debuted on the tenth spot.
There are other new entrants within top 20, with Duran Duran’s ‘All You Need Is Now’ opening up at 11th, Joe Bonamassa’s Dust Bowl managing 12th, while Green Day and The Drifters’ ‘Awesome As F**k ‘ and Up On The Roof appearing on 14th and 17th positions respectively.
To facilitate all these newcomers , someone had to plummet down, and those were The Vaccines’ What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?, which took a plunge from its previous position of 11th to end the week at 15, while Daniel O’Donnell’s Moon Over Ireland, was an even bigger looser, climbing down from the 7th to 16th.
