Teaching Kids About The Importance Of The Fine Arts

Parents have been fighting against educational systems that have attempted and succeeded in removing many of the fine arts from the regular curriculum of school. While it is very true that reading, writing and arithmetic will give you the tools you need for business success, you cannot have true success in life without creative thinking. Kids today must be given the opportunity to express themselves in new and different ways.

If it were not for the arts, children would not be able to learn that life cannot be all about business. It is important to know how to read, how to write and how to spell. It is important to be able to do the multiplication tables and how to divide. But it is equally important to be able to strum a tune on a guitar or give a monologue on stage.

People who are allowed to express themselves in free and artistic ways have a healthier outlook on life. They are able to approach their problems and issues that might come up in a way that is particular to their situation. They are able to analyze their options and come up with creative solutions.

Without the arts, people feel suppressed and boxed in. It is no fun to feel as if all there is to do every day is work, work, work. There must be time to relax and have a good time. This is when the arts come into play.

If the children of today are not allowed to explore their artistic talents, they will find it is more difficult to learn social skills. They will have less of an outlet for their creative instincts. Growing into a mature adult often relies on being able to make decisions by thinking outside the normal realm of thought. It is difficult for people who were oppressed and suppressed as children to function with a solid hand on their emotions as adults.

People use many of the arts as methods of relaxation. The thought of strumming a tune on a guitar or painting a watercolor can be relaxing and a stress reliever. People compose music, color, sculpt, and sing. There are many forms of entertainment for the mind involved in the art world.

Some people will use their natural skills and talents to go far in the art world, becoming a celebrity with their voice, their guitar playing, their acting or their dancing. Fame and fortune is sought by many but only a few succeed in gaining real success. The arts should be concentrated on in schools as a way to develop character and learn social skills.

It is important to stress to the individuals in educational organizations that the need for the arts in school is necessary. Kids today must have some kind of alternate entertainment for examply: guitar lessons, entertainment that they provide for others, something that gets them away from the computer or video game screen. They are born with talents they will never know about if they never learn music, act in a play or create a beautiful piece of artwork.
