The Music Industry’s History Books Will Certainly Feature The Name Of Al Gomes

The name, Al Gomes, is one that most internationally successful musicians are familiar with. He has been influential in the music industry for over 3 decades. In 1990, his partner, another well known personality, A. Michelle, helped him establish their aptly named promotional company, Big Noise. Their aim was to get the careers of budding artists underway.

Since then, the company has released well over 250 recordings. These incorporate all genres of music. Michelle and Gomes involve themselves personally in every aspect of a project, from the time it starts to its completion. They help artists to choose the best material, they negotiate with recording studios, and they supervise the final pressing of the CDs. In addition, all distribution and marketing is handled by them.

Al has been a catalyst in launching the careers of several superstars, one of which is Christina Aguilera. Steve Kurtz, his long-time buddy, was the first person to realize that Aguilera had talent. It didn’t take long before she was a household name. She was so impressed with Gomes that she employed him to manage her marketing. In addition to implementing innovative campaigns for her, he also acted as her biographer, her archivist, her publicist, and her webmaster.

In between all this work, he still found time to produce two of her major hits, Holiday with Christina and What a Valentine Wants. He also produced the famous remix of What a Girl Wants which was a firm favorite at clubs and discos throughout the world. In addition to this, he made contact with Katharine McPhee and produced her song, A Gift to You.

This disc was specifically made for the Association of College Broadcasters. Over the years, numerous awards from the music industry have been given to Big Noise, and Al serves as a voting member of the Grammys.

Al Gomes has also made a name as a humanitarian. Stirred by Bob Geldof’s legendary Band Aid project, Al spearheaded his own initiative which he named the Bandwagon Project. His intention was to focus on the dire situation of New England’s destitute communities and to create public awareness of their disgusting living conditions. He organized two huge live concerts which resulted in thousands of dollars being donated to this cause.
