Do you want to flourish as a DJ? Who wouldn’t! Your mix is the most important key to your success. If you want to be successful in your career you should try to produce a mix every six months if possible and then give it away free of charge. This may not make sense but, every DJs I run in to be it rising or established they still showcase their previous mixes which they had made in the past. It is vital that as a DJ you showcase your old and new mixes, this way your listeners will be able to distinguish how much you have blossomed as a DJ. To help you create a successful mix I have gathered here brief tips to guide you.
The first thing that you should do is to plan things. Ask yourself some questions like: What mix I want to create? What crowd would I want my mix to cater to? What mood do I want to set my listeners in? After thinking and finding the answers to these questions you are now ready to go the next step in making your mix.
Most mixes vary from 30 minutes to an hour. The amount of songs you decide to play should total within this range. We suggest you check out the latest updates and charts on record pools and DJ sites for ideas on where to start. Now that the mix is done make sure to get feedback from people whose opinion you respect before you send it out to the masses. Knowing how bias friends/family can be, it may be better not to tell them it’s your mix. This way you can almost guarantee yourself some honest feedback.
After finishing your mix try to let other people whom you think has knowledge about mixing and music hear your mix. You could also ask your family and friends to comment about it. It’s much better if they don’t know you made the track so that they won’t give a biased feedback.
You should also consider posting you music on your facebook, twitter, youtube or on any social media account you have. You might get discovered from it. Post your music links to blog sites. You could also upload your mix to some file sharing sites online. Let other people from different places hear your mix showcase. If ever you didn’t get your desired reactions, do not be discouraged. Instead try to find out what’s wrong about your mix. Do extra research, improve your mix then repeat the process of getting feedback from your listeners. Their feedback would help you perfect your mix although, it means you has to do things over and over again just to perfect it. Remember, your mix would determine your success so don’t mind in giving it your best.
